Ways to increase the time a visitor spends on a website or blog

Hello dear friends! As I promised earlier, in continuation of the article on the time spent by the visitor on the site, I publish for you the methods I have tested that make it possible to keep the visitor on the blog pages longer. This article is not final. As I identify new ways and eliminate less effective ones, it will be corrected.

I offer for your attention honest ways to increase the length of time a visitor spends on the site.

Three ways to increase the length of time on the site

1. Design, the face of the blog

The first thing a visitor sees when visiting any Internet resource, be it a blog, website or forum, is its design. It is necessary to choose a topic that will visually complement the blog articles and subconsciously remind the visitor of the site’s relationship to the thematic group.

At the same time, do not forget that today the days of the dawn of the Internet are over. The user has become very sophisticated, has seen the best and is able to distinguish an amateur from a professional.

For people who have an artistic warehouse and understand what the final result should be, it will not be difficult to create a high-quality blog. There is a huge amount of resources on the Internet that provide templates for free on any topic for all kinds of site management engines. For those who do not have such a gift, it is better to turn to professionals.

This method, which allows you to keep a visitor, I put first for a reason. The likelihood of a visitor’s desire to get to know him and not leave in the first seconds of the visit, and only then start reading and evaluating it, depends on the quality of the blog design.

2. Do not let go of the visitor, suggest to continue reading

Suggest to continue reading

Let’s agree that the visual design of the blog and the quality of writing articles satisfied the reader, who is a new visitor who came looking for an answer to his question. What happens if he reads the article to the end and finds what he was looking for? We can say with 90% certainty that he will leave the blog. According to statistics, only 10% of visitors are interested in the content of categories and filter posts by tags.

At the same time, very often such visitors are the owners of competing resources who, in order to improve their offspring, study the structure of blogs, articles similar in topic, and their principle of writing, design and approach to search engine optimization.

To reduce the likelihood of such an event occurring, the visitor must, without fail, be asked to continue reading. It is necessary to finalize the blog template so that at the end of each article there is a block with similar entries. Also, it will not be superfluous to place a block showing the most popular blog topics in the slidebar.

You can organize such a design using specialized plugins.

3. To be continued

Continuation of articles

Another way that will keep the visitor on the site is as follows. When writing an article, it is necessary to understand the expediency of meaningfully closing the post.

Think, maybe it makes sense to present the information in such a way that it turns out to be two, or maybe more posts, which reveal the topic in more detail and in a focused way.

It is possible that at the time of this writing, the author has exhausted his knowledge and imagination. But practice shows that over time, information can be presented in a different way, in more detail, taking into account the subtleties and personal conclusions. This is due to the fact that the author himself, walking through life, discovers new moments for himself, there is more practice, and therefore knowledge that can be conveyed to the reader.

Reread already published articles. I am more likely to be sure that you still have something to talk about in the continuation of this topic. Write a new article and organize internal linking between them.

In short, do not exclude the possibility of continuing what you have written. Intrigue the reader with loud phrases about the development of the topic in the next article, organize internal linking.

Using these three methods, you can interest and keep the visitor on the pages, thereby significantly increasing the length of time that the visitor spends on the blog.

That’s all for now, to be continued …

PS The above methods for engaging in a blog are also applicable to other types of resources: company websites, specialized forums and other resources.
